Creating Harmony Between Exertion and Comfort

Primate u4ia

The fabric used in the Primate8 u4ia range is in a class of it’s own in the international textiles industry.

It is created with a patented structure combining Lycra (20%) and Meryl polyamide (80%), to provide a soft and ultra fine fabric. The fabric comes in four weights 119gsm for our light base layers, 164 gsm for football kit, polo's and netball kit, 240gsm for netball and rugby and 320gsm for rugby.

This special cellular structure gives it distinctive characteristics, which represent a perfect balance of strength, comfort, easy care and softness, together with a fashionable and elegant look. The high Lycra content enables the garment to hang really well without it being skin tight.

Primate8 u4ia is a range of high performance garments, which are soft and ultra fine, have ‘4-way’ stretch allowing a superior fit and ease of movement, and are breathable and fast drying. They are exceptional in the absorption and transportation of body moisture, and are air permeable, allowing the body to perform at its optimum temperature for longer than in conventional fabrics. They also offer excellent warmth and are extremely tough and resistant to abrasions. Added to this, u4ia is chlorine resistant, anti pilling, anti static and has a UV sun protection factor of 50+ (by both European and more stringent Australian regulations).

Moisture management wick away the sweat from your body transferring it to the outside of the top where it evaporates. This aids constant body temperature which in turn aids optimum performance as well as keeping you comfortable.

Please note that due to their being 20% Lycra in the fabric cutting exact lengths is not always possible so we work within tolerances of +/- 1cm for tops and skirts and +/- 2cm for dresses.

Finally, the u4ia range are easy care garments, which can be maintained with minimal care and ease. We recommend that for the first couple of washes you hand wash them, as there can be a bit of colour bleed, then they will be colour fast. Thereafter, a 40° machine wash is OK, but never tumble dry, besides they are quick drying. Not surprisingly, this fabric is also used by the top names in the fashion, lingerie and swimwear industry.

Traditional Fabrics

Whilst we are always looking at developing our range of sports wear from new, high performance fabrics, Primate recognises that some of the more traditional fabrics are very popular. Pure cotton, for example, is still one of the most desirable fabrics for clothing. This is why we can make your team wear from a range of fabrics such as poly cottons and cotton, polyester and acrylics, depending upon your requirements.

It is important that you choose the right product for your sport. With our experience and product knowledge, we can help you achieve this. We can advise you of the pros and cons of our range of fabrics, enabling you to make an informed decision based on quality, price and performance.

Garment Care

We strongly recommend that all garments be washed at a temperature of no more than 40 degrees, and that chlorine bleach is not used. This enables the product to retain its strength and increase its life potential. Cottons will rapidly fade and can shrink at high temperatures. Acrylics will shrink and lose their shape, and cuffs will lose their elasticity. Our u4ia fabrics are very quick drying. Do not tumble dry. The correct care will add to the longevity of the product and save on washing costs, thus giving you even greater long-term value.

Customer and after sales service is of great importance to us, so we are always here to help and advise.
